Soccer Box Ball

Grade: Primary Junior

Facility: Gymnasium, multipurpose room or outdoors

Materials: Objects such as an empty box, a little pylon, a Frisbee, etc., several soft balls

Activity Description: Get students up, moving and kicking with Soccer Box Ball, a team activity that promotes cooperation. This activity can be played indoors or outside now that the warm, sunny weather is here!

Overview:

  • Divide students into two teams and divide the playing area in half.

  • Designate a small area between the two sides called the “no-mans land," where no players are allowed. Place several objects, e.g. an empty box, a little pylon, a Frisbee, etc. in the “no-mans land”.

  • Scatter several soft balls on both sides of the playing area.

  • On the signal, students kick the balls, aiming at the objects in the “no-mans land."

  • The object of the game is to move the objects in the “no mans-land” towards the opponent’s side. The only way the objects can be moved is by kicking the balls at them.

  • Students work together to move as many objects as possible.

  • On the signal to stop all the students sit down.
