Grade:
Junior, Intermediate
Facility:
Gymnasium, outside
Materials:
Soccer ball for each student, pylons
Activity Description:
By taking a skill-theme approach to learning soccer, your students will learn the basics so that they will have the tools to participate. This activity is all about ball control.
Overview:
  • Mark an area approximately 10 metres square using pylons.
  • All students start inside the square, and each has a ball.
  • On the teacher’s signal, students begin dribbling their ball inside the square, keeping close control of their own ball while trying to kick the balls of other players out of the square.
  • If a student gets their ball kicked out of the square, they must dribble the ball around the area 3 times before re-entering the square and continuing.

Helping Students with Asthma Stay Active
Physical activity is good for everyone. Full participation in physical education classes, school activities, intramurals, and interschool athletics helps to provide opportunities for all students to experience the positive benefits to both their health and their learning. Students with asthma should be encouraged to participate in physical activities such as Kickout! and sports, take their reliever medication beforehand (if needed) and to keep it handy for quick use.
